Luit Waterfall

I hope I got the name right. I couldn’t get a result when searching for this waterfall on Google. I visited Luit Waterfall in the beginning of this month.

Luit is a nice waterfall, consisting of two cascading falls. There is a big pool below the fall, probably 20 meters in both length and width. I was too busy taking photos that I didn’t have time to wade in the pool.

The entrance of Luit Waterfall is located along B55 trunk road after Kuala Kubu Baru. As you drive along B55 towards Fraser Hills, turn off right at Kampung Pertak and drive on for 500m. The trail to Luit Waterfall is the same as to Bukit Kutu, before diverting left. (Please refer to map attached)

The trek was quite easy, gradual gradient. Although the trail isn’t steep, it is not a short hike. The waterfall is quite deep in. As we got deeper into the jungle, the trail became less and less distinct. We had difficulties finding our way.

Trails near waterfalls or rivers are infamous for leaches. True enough, there were armies of leaches along the trail! I was bitten four times! How nasty!

We took 3 hours to trek to the waterfall and 2 hours to return. Net ascension is 430 meters and trek distance is 7.4 km

Adorable Puppies

My friend recently brought his puppies over to my house for me to take photos of them. They are cute and very active. For the first 15 minutes, I had a difficult time nailing a good shot of them. They ran all over my garden. I allowed them to play and run around till they tire.

I used two lens, Canon 15-85 IS USM and Canon 50mm F/1.4 which I got a couple of months ago on a Canon 50D. I find the 50mm’s focusing system sluggish and I have to be very careful in selecting focus point when the aperture is wide open.

Since I don’t have any reflectors, I took the photos in the evening where the lighting is better. It worked well enough.

Here are a few of the shots I took.

Ps. Please click on picture for a clearer view, WordPress doesn’t display images clearly.

This is my favorite. But, I made a mistake of focusing on the paws rather than the eyes.

New Lens – Canon 50mm 1.4 USM

This week has its ups and its down. First day of the weekdays; Monday was horrible. I met in a small accident at my college car park after lunch. I was half way turning into a narrow lane, when a car from the opposite direction wanted to pass through. So, I gave way. Looked at my rear mirror and saw a Myvi waiting far behind. I revised for less than a metre. BANGG.. Hit the side of a Kenari’s bumper! Where the hell did he come from?? I thought there wasn’t enough room for any car to pass through my car. Whew.. =/

His soft plastic bumper was smashed at the left and a little dent at the top of the bumper. While, my car suffered scratches on the paintwork but no dents at all. Anyway, it was all my fault and I have compensated him for the damages. Now, I’m worried of hitting into something whenever I reverse.

Alright, lets put that aside. As you have known from my previous postings, I have talked about how the Canon 15-85mm suffer in low lights conditions. Now, the problem is behind me! My parents bought me a Canon 50mm F/1.4 USM yesterday! 🙂 I like the lens straightaway. It’s a very fast lens and the image quality is good!

Build quality is good, solid build. Bokeh effect is very nice. The disadvantage of this lens is its USM auto focus system seems to be a little sluggish compared to the Canon 15-85mm. At F/1.4, the sharpness is soft even in the center.

I bought the lens at BB Plaza for RM 1,210. Shashinki.com is selling for RM1,339 after a discount.

Think Again!

I’m crazy about Danbo. 2 days ago, I downloaded and printed the template for making a Danbo. First, I made a static Danbo. It looked awesome and cute! Then, I tried making a moveable Danbo. It was challenging. Took me 3 hours to make 1. As I used normal A4 paper, It came out fragile and soft. Next, I’ll try making with a thicker paper. 🙂

There are many great pictures taken of the Danbo. Check it out; Google image it.

EBC Circuit Trek Pictures – Part 1

Arggh! I missed Bruno Mars concert! I wasn’t bothered when I heard he was coming. I don’t fancy concerts in Stadiums because the sound quality is not good. But, Bruno Mars’s concert was held in an auditorium! And I only realized 2 weeks before the event itself. By that time, the tickets are sold out. I heard that it was sold out on the 2nd day after release! Arggh Shit!

Anyway, here’s some pictures from EBC circuit trek. I’ll be posting more.

Can you spot Mt Everest? It’s in the center, dark grey, and has a trail of cloud beside it.

Yak!

I got really close to this. Yaks are actually quite tame. On a few occasion, I went pretty near to it and it did no harm.

Formula 1 @ Sepang

So, for the last 2 weeks I have been super free. I had nothing important to do other than driving lessons and application to college. The rest of the time, I’m super free.

Formula 1 at Sepang was great! It was my first time in Sepang Circuit and watching F1 live. It was a great experience. Tim, Joel, Ching, Brendan and I bought tickets to C2, which is at a long hillside. On Friday, it was free seating. That means, Tim, Calvin and I watched practice 1 from the grandstand overlooking the Pit lane and the main straight. The cars were super loud on the straight and I forgot to bring the ear plugs. I just love the sound of formula 1 engine revving.

On Saturday and Sunday, we sat back at C2. Although there was a screen opposite of us, I was clueless about what was happening in the race. Watching from TV in HD is better except that the sound is not as good as being there.

Here’s some pictures I took. More pictures at my FB profile.

Merchandise at Sepang F1 Circuit was very expensive. I thought I would buy a cap, but it was too costly.

Force India (Race Day)

Lotus Renault (Race Day)

Anyway, I think I’m partially deaf now. 🙂

Yesterday, I received a letter from Tarc. I got accepted into Tarc for alevels! I can’t wait to start college, except the waking up early part. hehe 😄 College would be fun!
