Back From Mount Kinabalu!
Hey again,
I have just summited Mount Kinabalu again for a 2nd time. Less than a year ago, I summited Mount Kinabalu through the popular summit trail from Timpohon Gate. But this year, we walked through the Mesilau Trail.
Many claimed that the Mesilau trail is scenic and there is more opportunity to view the flora and fauna there. But, that wasn’t really true for me. I wouldn’t deny that it is a little more scenic on the Mesilau trail than the other from Timpohon Gate. But, the amount of effort used wasn’t worth the little scenery.
The Mesilau trail is around 1.5 km longer than the trail from Timpohon Gate. At the beginning of the Mesilau trail, you will accent to a hill before you descend back to Mesilau valley. After that, you will accent all the way to Laban Rata. As for me, the scenery wasn’t worth the longer route.
If you would like to enjoy the scenery from above Mount Kinabalu, I would recommend that you descend or ascend via Ferrata. The view from above was superb while descending via Ferrata. ‘Via Ferrata’ is a mountain route made of a permanent network of iron rungs, rails, bridges and cables. Recently, the ‘Via Ferrata’, Mount Kinabalu was announced the highest via ferrata in the world @ 3776 meters above sea level.
More on my Via Ferrata and Mount Kinabalu experience later.
The picture above was taken after I summited Mount Kinabalu. It is the south Peak, the most beautiful peak of Mount Kinabalu and 1 of the first peaks you would see when ascending Mount Kinabalu.
It was about 6.30 in the morning when the sun rise, creating a golden shine on the South Peak.
More photos soon..
Whatever you call it.. :D
Currently, having my Intervensi 1 (1st test). I wonder why do they have a test on just the 3rd week of school.
Photo for today, a sand hill or whatever you call it.
Last 2 week ago, I went for abselling in Port Dickson.. Its really fun, although I was scared went I did it the 1st time. 2nd time was fun, I could take bigger steps and go down faster.. Only thing that I could not do is, going face down..hehe
On the last weekend, I went to G. Datuk. It only took around 2 hours to reach the summit. At the summit, it was very windy and we had to climb up a few ladders.
Later that evening, I went to Hay Teng’s Farewell dinner. Had a great time there. Bye, Hay Teng.
And now, test, test and test… =(
Enjoy your day..
First Week of School & Jetty@Beach, HDR.
Its great to be in school again after a ’short’ 2 months break. Nothing else much to say though..
The picture below is quite similar to the one in my previous post, ‘Wooden Jetty in HDR‘. But, this include more details such as the boat at the left hand side.
I processed the single RAW image to a High Dynamic Range with Photomatix. After some minor enhancement with photoshop, here is the results…
Thats all for today, bye..
Last Year In School!!!
The picture below is also taken in Penang Island @ Penang Forest Reserve. Its a HDR image, processed from a single RAW file. I used a Canon 400D to capture it.
Tomorrow is, ‘back to school’ again!! But, for the last year!! It surely would be a memorable one..
Last Friday, which was the first day of 2010, I summited Mount Nuang again.. My number 4th or 5th or mayb 6th?? Whichever.. I lost count..
I was placed in charge as the leader to lead group the of 40+ hikers mostly from Seremban and K.L up to the summit of Gunung Nuang… The group was pretty slow, it took 5+ hours for the 1st group of about 10 to reach the peak. = ( And, only about half made it to the summit. How sad…
However, going down was fun. My elder brother and I ran down the mountain… We were 2 times faster than others and more than 2 times the fun… Well, we don’t do it all the time. So, don’t come over and start lecturing me on the consequences of running down.
Thank God it did not rain in the evening or else, it would be hell on earth. If you don’t know what would happen in Nuang when it rains, once it rained cats and dogs when we were on our way down from Nuang.. The whole trail just transformed into a river. You won’t even know if there is a hole in front of you except by using a stick to ‘test the ground’. But, we made it alright.
Thats all for today. Enjoy your 1st day of school tmr..
